About Us
Sutton St James Pre-school is a long-established group which began as a charity in 1969. A group of mums felt there was a need for a community-based play and learn group for preschoolers. The pre-school was based in the Village Hall in Sutton.
As the popularity of the playgroup grew it was converted to a charity pre-school ran by committee members. In the summer of 2016, the pre-school relocated to the grounds of Hollinhey Primary School to strengthen the link and ensure a smoother transition for our children from pre-school to school.
Sutton St James preschool is an ever-evolving establishment, changing and growing to the needs of the children and community, as well as government policies and standards. Our staff continuously take part in ongoing training and development and we implement new ideas and change practices to continuously create a nurturing, stimulating and fun environment for our children.
We have seen many changes over the years but one thing that remains the same is the love and care that emulates Sutton St James Pre-school. There have been many faces in our community that have begun their learning journey at Sutton St James Pre-school, some of whom are parents now bringing their little ones to begin their pre-school journey.
Our Mission Statement
Sutton St James is more than a learning environment but an extended part of a child’s family. Staff and committee as a team provide a caring, secure and happy environment which enables all our children to develop and thrive in all areas of their learning journey.
